ABOLISH the Foreign Investment Review Board

Graphic for manifesto proposal 28

13 September 2026

♦️ “ABOLISH THE FOREIGN INVESTMENT REVIEW BOARD.”

The IPA’s own words, published in 2012.

♦️ ABOLISH. SEVENTEEN TIMES.

Ten in the original 75 proposals; seven in the additional 25. A repeated instruction to dismantle.

♦️ DID THE GOVERNMENT DO IT?

No. FIRB still examines relevant foreign investment proposals and advises the Treasurer, who makes the decisions.

♦️ WHO PROTECTS THE PUBLIC INTEREST?

Investment can bring opportunity. Scrutiny matters too. Abolishing FIRB would remove this advisory body—not automatically repeal foreign investment laws.

What would replace its scrutiny, and who would benefit?

⭐️ PEOPLE FIRST. PRIVILEGE LAST.

⭐️ A FAIRER SOCIETY. A KINDER POLITICS.
